Where He Left It

A White Leghorn rooster with pure white plumage and a large red comb in a midnight-blue silk Chinese jacket with knotted frog fastenings, standing on a wooden table on a Hong Kong rooftop at night beside quartered mooncakes showing golden yolks, a halved pomelo, a small clay teapot and two cups, red paper lanterns and a white rabbit-shaped lantern glowing on a string above, a full moon rising behind lit apartment towers

Pomelo First

He has peeled the pomelo, quartered the mooncake and hung the rabbit lantern where it can be seen from the street. The moon comes up over Kowloon exactly where he left it last year.
